The "marriage" between Tite and Flamengo officially came to an end this Monday (30), with the announcement of the coach's dismissal. Thus, the coach ends his time at Rubro-Negro after 70 games, with a 64.7% success rate, in addition to having won a state title and suffering a disappointing elimination in the Libertadores da América.

Tite took over Flamengo on October 9, 2023, after the departure of Jorge Sampaoli. The former Brazilian national team coach signed a contract until the end of 2024, but his departure comes three months ahead of schedule.

During his time in charge of Flamengo, Tite accumulated 70 matches, totaling 41 wins, 13 draws and 16 defeats. Under his management, the team scored 109 goals and conceded 50. He also led the team to win the Campeonato Carioca undefeated.

Despite a promising start, Flamengo's performances under his command of Tite did not please the majority of the fans. The team, which led the Brasileirão for a few rounds, began to oscillate and currently occupies fourth place with 48 points, nine behind leader Botafogo, who has 57.

Elimination in the Libertadores

Three-time Libertadores champion, Flamengo entered the 2024 edition as one of the favorites and top seed of Group E. However, the team's performance in the group stage fell below expectations, resulting in a second-place finish. In the round of 16, Mais Querido beat Bolívar (BOL) 2-1 on aggregate, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals after being defeated by Peñarol (URU) without managing to score a goal.

Departure of the Technical Committee

In addition to Tite, the entire technical committee is also leaving Flamengo. Among the professionals leaving the club are assistants Cleber Xavier, Matheus Bachi, César Sampaio and Vinícius Bergantin, physical trainer Fábio Mahseredjian and performance analyst Lucas Oliveira.

Tite is no longer Flamengo's coach. Mais Querido announced the decision this Monday (30) through its social networks. Filipe Luís takes charge of the team on an interim basis. For commentator Paulo Vinicius Coelho (PVC), the attitude of the red and black board was extremely toxic, recalling the departure of another coach at the beginning of Rodolfo Landim's presidency.

"Flamengo looks like the office in which The employee will be fired at the end of work on Friday, but will work intensely throughout the week, with everyone, over coffee, whispering: “Is he still here?” Professional respect is not that. In the corporate world, this type of behavior is currently called toxic", wrote the commentator on 'Uol'.

“Tite fell into exactly the same conditions as Abel Braga, in 2019, the first under the Rodolfo Landim administration. Abel beat Athletico Paranaense in his last game 3 x 2 and was extremely hostile from the stands. Three days later, he asked to leave”, added PVC.

Lucky for Filipe Luís

PVC also wished luck to Filipe Luís, who was chosen to replace Tite for an indefinite period. The new coach has already led the training this Monday (30) and is preparing for the next challenge against Corinthians, in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.

“Tite is out, Filipe Luis is the coach. For now, interim. The management's desire is to repeat what happened with Carpegiani, Carlinhos and Andrade. The interim stays and becomes effective because he is champion. Lucky for Filipe Luís. Really lucky”, he concluded.

Debut of Filipe Luís

Filipe Luís will make his debut as Flamengo coach this Wednesday ( 02), facing Corinthians in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The match will take place at Maracanã, at 9:45 pm (Brasília time).

Flamengo is under pressure from the fans after being eliminated in the Libertadores by Peñarol, this last Thursday (26). This is because the team led by Tite had a poor campaign in the tournament and did not present alternatives to beat teams with lower investments than Rubro-Negro. Thus, the success in the competition was below 50%.

In Libertadores 2024, Flamengo played ten games. Overall, Mais Querido only had four wins, two draws and four defeats. The number is equivalent to a performance of just 46.6%.

TITE IS PRESSURED

Even before being eliminated from the Libertadores, Tite was already being pressured by the crowd. With the elimination, charges increased. However, the red-black board evaluates the coach's work and rules out a dismissal before the clash against Athletico-PR.

The tendency is for Tite to also lead Mais Querido in the decisive clash of the Copa do Brasil , against Corinthians. If the work progresses and the coach achieves good results, the commander can survive in command of Rubro-Negro.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT CONFRONTATION

Thus, Seeking to improve his numbers in charge of Flamengo, Tite finalizes the red-black team's preparation this Saturday (28). Mais Querido returns to the field this Sunday (29), when they face Athletico-PR, in the Brasileirão, at 8pm.
