León, from Mexico, is officially out of the FIFA Club World Cup . The decision was made by the football's governing body, which vetoed the team's participation due to its ties to Pachuca, a club that belongs to the same business group. The competition's rules do not allow two teams under the same management to compete in the tournament.
As a result, Flamengo, which was already in Group D alongside Chelsea and Espérance Sportive, is awaiting the definition of a new opponent. FIFA has not yet announced which team will take León's place. FIFA released an official statement detailing the reasons for the Mexican club's exclusion. According to the organization, both Pachuca and León do not meet the criteria established for the tournament due to their multi-club ownership.
FIFA COMMENTS ON THE CASE
"After assessing all the evidence in the case, the chairman of the FIFA Appeals Committee has decided that both Pachuca and León do not meet the criteria for multi-club ownership set out in the Club World Cup regulations. Accordingly, FIFA has decided not to admit León to the competition and will announce its replacement club in due course," the organisation said.
CANDIDATES FOR LEON'S VACANCY
With the departure of the Mexican team, some options emerge as possible replacements. Among those considered, three teams stand out: Alajuelense (Costa Rica): It occupies the 45th position in the Concacaf ranking, but, due to the FIFA regulation that limits the participation of teams from the same country, it could be the chosen one. Los Angeles FC (United States): Runner-up in the Concachampions, it was defeated by León in the final. América de México: Better placed in the Concacaf ranking, but faces the same problem as León, as it is from the same country.
León 's exclusion changes CRF's planning for the World Cup group stage. The Rio de Janeiro club was already analyzing the Mexican team, but now it will need to study a new opponent. The change could affect the Mais Querido's logistics and strategy in the tournament. Rubro-Negro already knows two of its opponents in the initial stage: Chelsea, from England, and Espérance Sportive, from Tunisia. Now, it remains to be seen who will be the fourth member of the group.
Transfermarkt update places Mais Querido as the club with the highest number of representatives on the list, even with a loss of position in one of the positions

Flamengo idol Adriano Imperador stated in an interview that he played more than some of the biggest names in world football. With a career marked by talent, physical strength, and humility , "Didico" continues to be fondly remembered by Flamengo fans.
During an appearance on the show Boteco do Chula, Adriano was asked if he had performed at a higher level than stars like Ronaldo, Romário, Ibrahimovic, Mbappé, Lewandowski, and Gabigol . The former player candidly stated that he considers himself superior to some of them.
In the Emperor's opinion, Kyllian Mbappé, Robert Lewandowski, and Gabigol are behind him . However, according to Adriano himself, Romário, Ibrahimovic , and Ronaldo Fenômeno are in a higher tier.
Adriano's most significant connection with the club came in the 2009 Brazilian Championship . During that campaign, the striker played in 30 of the 38 rounds, scoring 19 goals and contributing four assists. With him on the field, the team recorded 15 wins, seven draws, and eight losses. This victory was decisive not only for the club's recent history, but also for the Emperor's career.
Adriano recalls that title as the greatest moment of his career on the field. In a recent interview with GE, he highlighted the team's unity as a determining factor in winning the trophy: " Theoretically, I was down there, the team wasn't doing well. An unforgettable title for me. The group was very good. We really came together, and that made it possible for us to be champions, for sure ."
