Flamengo captain with Tite, Gerson publishes a farewell message to the coach

Tite is no longer Flamengo's coach. Mais Querido announced the decision this Monday (30) through its social networks. Filipe Luís takes charge of the team on an interim basis. For commentator Paulo Vinicius Coelho (PVC), the attitude of the red and black board was extremely toxic, recalling the departure of another coach at the beginning of Rodolfo Landim's presidency.

PVC also wished luck to Filipe Luís, who was chosen to replace Tite for an indefinite period. The new coach has already led the training this Monday (30) and is preparing for the next challenge against Corinthians, in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.

“Tite is out, Filipe Luis is the coach. For now, interim. The management's desire is to repeat what happened with Carpegiani, Carlinhos and Andrade. The interim stays and becomes effective because he is champion. Lucky for Filipe Luís. Really lucky”, he concluded.

Filipe Luís will make his debut as Flamengo coach this Wednesday ( 02), facing Corinthians in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The match will take place at Maracanã, at 9:45 pm (Brasília time).

Flamengo's current squad has 29 players, 22 of which have already played under the command of Filipe Luís, the interim coach of Rubro-Negro until December. After Tite's dismissal, Filipe takes over on a provisional basis, with the expectation of returning to his role as under-20 coach in 2025.

Filipe Luís played for Flamengo from 2019 until 2023, a period in which he was a teammate of practically the entire cast. The only exception is Alex Sandro, who, although he was a Brazilian teammate, did not play for Fla at the same time as the former full-back. The players who played with Filipe Luís are:

At the base, Filipe Luís won the Copa Rio U-17 and Club World Cup U-20 titles.

Filipe Luís' first game as Flamengo coach will take place this Wednesday (2), at 9:45 pm (Brasília time), against Corinthians, at Maracanã, in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-final. The other semi-final will be between Atlético-MG and Vasco da Gama.

Filipe Luís arrives with the mission of winning the national knockout stage and bringing Flamengo closer to the Brasileirão leaders. In 2024, under Tite's management, Mengão already won the Campeonato Carioca undefeated, but was eliminated from the Libertadores. Now, the club is looking for a fresh start to the season.

Sheffield occupies fifth place in the Championship, with 12 points from four wins and two draws after six rounds. The English team suffered a two-point penalty from the English Football League and that's why they don't have 14. However, the team's start is good and gives confidence to Vinicius Souza and his teammates to think about access to the Premier League again.
