This Wednesday (22), Flamengo faces Amazonas, for the second game of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. The match hasn't even taken place yet, but it is already involved in controversy, as the home club was notified by Procon and Consumer Protection for the abusive price of tickets. Roberto Peggy, CEO of Amazonas, tried to justify what happened.

“It's for the moral issue of you not allowing your stadium to be taken over by fans of the visiting team and you have the embarrassment of being booed inside your stadium. own home, because the opposing crowd is bigger. That's why we allocated 10% of the stadium to Flamengo fans only and we want people from Amazonas to come and watch the game”, he said, in an interview with 'Jornal O Globo'.

The fact is that the “moral issue ” mentioned by him generated tickets with prices ranging between R$150 and R$1,500 to watch the confrontation. And precisely the exorbitant values caught the attention of authorities that regulate consumer abuse.

At the time the prices were announced, the Consumer Protection Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas, through President Mário César Filho, defined the practice as “unacceptable”.

“It is unacceptable that fans are exploited with exorbitant prices that violate the principles of democratic access to sport. We cannot tolerate the practice of abuses that harm consumers and disregard current legislation. We are vigilant and will ensure that citizens' rights are strictly protected”, said Mário.

In addition to using the “moral” part of the confrontation to justify the high value of tickets, the CEO of Amazonas states that The strategy is to ensure that Toca da Onça fans not only watch the show, but also start contributing to the club's daily life through the membership plan. The point is that, with the stance adopted, the only thing Roberto has achieved, so far, are complaints and notifications.

“We hope that the fan will be able to join the partner or, if he just wants to participate in a show and doesn't want to commit to the club, he pays a slightly higher price to see Flamengo, which is a fair price, since Flamengo hasn't been to the state for 50 years. The stadium may be empty, but it must be empty of Flamengo fans and Amazonians are the majority”, said Peggy.

Flamengo in Manaus 2024

Regardless of restriction of 10% of the stadium to red and black fans, which is actually law in Brazilian football, it is true that Manaus will stop to follow Flamengo, whether inside the Arena da Amazônia, or outside it. The team arrived in the state under a high flow of fans and a lot of expectations.

Another factor worth highlighting is that this year Fla went to Manaus, when they faced Audax, in the Carioca Championship. On that occasion, more than 44 thousand people were present at the Arena da Amazônia, and the match had revenue of R$6,574,690.00, with tickets between R$150 and R$600. In other words, even the CEO's own argument about 'Flamengo hasn't been to the state for 50 years' fell apart.

With controversies off the field, but an expectation of a calm game without complaints within the four lines, Flamengo and Amazonas face each other this Wednesday (22). The ball will roll at 9:30 pm (Brasília time).

Flamengo has the advantage on the scoreboard as they won the first match 1-0, at Maracanã. The match is worth a place in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, whose opponent will be defined by draw – no date has yet been defined by the CBF.

Probable Chile lineup: Claudio Bravo; Mauricio Isla, Guillermo Maripán, Paulo Díaz and Gabriel Suazo; Marcelino Núñez and Erick Pulgar; Victor Dávila, Alexis Sánchez and Diego Valdés (Brereton Diaz); Eduardo Vargas.

Flamengo fans have another acquaintance in the game besides Erick Pulgar and Mauricio Isla. This is Paolo Guerrero. This is because the Peruvian center forward played for Rubro-Negro from 2015 to 2018, but now defends the colors of Cesar Vallejo (PER).

Probable Peru lineup: Pedro Gallese; Alexander Callens, Carlos Zambrano and Luis Abram; Advíncula, Sergio Peña, Cartagena, Jesús Castillo and Marcos López; Gianluca Lapadula and Paolo Guerrero. Coach: Jorge Fossati.

PERU The Copa América also features Argentina and Canada. However, the Argentines and Canadians debuted last Thursday night (20), and Messi's team won 2-0. Therefore, it is the turn of the Chileans and Peruvians to face each other at the Dallas Stadium, in Texas, United States United.
